Maker and owner of Rhinestic’s Knick Knacks | Self-taught artist-and-designer | Freelance Craft Instructor

I am some sort of a cross between an Arts freak and a Science nerd. I have always loved drawing since a toddler and my craze for the heavens began when my dad got me my very first astronomy book.

However, being born into a very pragmatic family, I was encouraged to pursue something more 'concrete' and 'down-to-earth', and I ended up being a software engineer and web developer for almost a decade...

Alas, the very existence of the 'arty' me forbade the total annihilation of creating art during my days as a code writer. I started my 'Rhinestic's Knick Knacks' blog, hoping to document my other life as a maker.

In my web developing days at a creative digital agency, I was constantly surrounded by my funky and artistic designer-colleagues (who would become my good friends). And through them, I got the chance to hone my eye for design.

It's also one of my colleagues who would encourage me to pursue my interest, and with the support of my other half, I participated, together with many other artists from around the world, in my first exhibition 'Pameran Poskad 2013' where we showcased our postcard-sized art pieces.

I also started my own shop and participated in a number of arts and crafts markets. I would create my own designs (eg. my own textile prints, illustration for pins) and hand-craft my products from scratch. Not long after, I also added my own art prints to my inventory.

Nowadays, I would freelance as a craft instructor, artist and designer, while creating more artworks and designing stuffs for my shop. When opportunity arises, I would also participate in exhibitions.
